Compassion International needed an impactful way to connect supporters with the challenges and hope of families living in poverty. The goal? Inspire empathy and action by transporting viewers to Brazil through an interactive 360° virtual reality experience. By immersing supporters in the Soza family’s story, the project aimed to deepen engagement and drive support for child sponsorship programs.
We collaborated with Compassion International to understand their goals, audience, and message. We’d study the Soza family’s story, scout Brazilian locations remotely, and ensure cultural sensitivity. Technical research includes testing interactive VR options and stereoscopic 3D filming techniques. This groundwork ensures we create content that’s authentic, impactful, and technically flawless.
Creating this VR experience was an unforgettable adventure! Our three-person crew spent five days in Brazil, visiting Compassion projects, meeting the incredible Soza family, and capturing their story in stunning stereoscopic 3D. Back in the UK, we transformed this raw footage into an immersive masterpiece, combining high-res editing with interactive coding for the Quest headsets. The result? A powerful, lifelike experience that inspires empathy and action.
We deployed the VR experience across 50 Quest headsets, sending them to events all across the USA. These “events in a box” brought the Soza family’s story to life, immersing audiences in their journey. The powerful storytelling raised awareness, inspired empathy, and boosted support for child sponsorship programs, making a lasting impact on viewers and Compassion’s mission.
