This project, managed in partnership with Amiculum, addressed the critical need for improved pre-hospital stroke diagnosis training. Using interactive, dramatised videos, paramedics engage with realistic scenarios, applying decision-making skills and seeing the consequences play out through “branch narratives.” This empathetic, memorable training method equips healthcare professionals with practical knowledge, improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes in urgent medical situations.
Our research focused on creating accurate, impactful content and exploring innovative delivery methods. We collaborated with medical experts to ensure realism and effectiveness in portraying stroke diagnosis scenarios. Simultaneously, we developed a seamless way to deliver branch narrative videos via web browsers, ensuring interactive decision-making was intuitive, responsive, and accessible for healthcare professionals across various devices and platforms.
The Develop phase combined filmmaking and coding to create a dynamic training tool. We produced high-quality, dramatised videos portraying realistic medical scenarios. Simultaneously, our developers crafted the interactive platform, enabling seamless “branch narrative” decision-making. This phase involved integrating video content with responsive web-based technology, ensuring users could engage meaningfully with the training tool, applying their knowledge in real-time to enhance their learning experience and improve decision-making skills.
The Deploy phase launched the interactive training tool, making it accessible to healthcare professionals worldwide. Seamless integration into web platforms ensured a user-friendly experience. We tested performance across devices, optimised accessibility, and gathered feedback to refine the tool, empowering users with engaging, practical training to improve stroke diagnosis outcomes.
" Yesterday… Turns out subdural haematoma. I spotted that because of the training, so thank you! Amazing learning resource."
